Dynamic Tensile Failure Characteristics and Energy Dissipation of Red Sandstone under Dry–Wet Cycles

Studying the dynamic properties of rocks in complex environments is great significance to sustainable development deep-sea metal mineral resource extraction. To investigate influence dry–wet cycles on tensile and energy dissipation red sandstone, a series Brazilian disc tests was carried out through split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) apparatus. The behaviors distribution sandstone specimens after different (0, 10, 20, 30 40 cycles) were analyzed this study. degree fragmentation significantly affected by loading rate. Specifically, when number remains constant, an increase rate results significant reduction average fragment size, while consumption density exhibits approximately linear increase. At fixed rate, decreases linearly with cycles, higher more sensitive cycle. Under strength has exponential relation density.
